Oh, goodie!  I agree, when you need them they're current & much easier to 
find instead of wading through a directory that may have a thousand files 
built up in it.  And there certainly is no great use keeping them around 
for posterity that I can see.

And that explains why the amcheck I just ran took about 5 seconds the 
first time, and .200 seconds the second time.  The first time it was 
cleaning up all its old trash files.

I take it this will be in the next 2.5.1p3 snapshot then?
