Hi All, I observed a backup failure today. The details related to failure that I find in the email sent by amanda are as follows:
FAILURE AND STRANGE DUMP SUMMARY: <client_name> /vol/vol1/home lev 2 FAILED [data timeout] <client_name> /vol/vol1/home lev 2 FAILED [dump to tape failed] FAILED AND STRANGE DUMP DETAILS: /-- <client_name> /vol/vol1/home lev 2 FAILED [data timeout] sendbackup: start [<client_name>:/vol/vol1/home level 2] sendbackup: info BACKUP=/bin/gtar sendbackup: info RECOVER_CMD=/bin/gtar -f... - sendbackup: info end \-------- I would like to know what the above messages from Amanda mean and what may have caused the failure. Secondly, since I have a limited number of tape media, I wanted to use the same tape media on which the backup failed. So as per the "Quickstart" document, I used the commands $ amrmtape daily Daily-03 $ amlabel -f daily Daily-03 and again executed the same backup. I would like to know whether this is the right way of doing things or I should compulsarily use a new tape media and then execute the backup. Kindly suggest. Thanks Yogesh ____________________________________________________________________________________ Any questions? Get answers on any topic at www.Answers.yahoo.com. Try it now.
