Greeting all :-)
First, let me thank all those who participate on this list for being
so very helpful to us neophytes even when the answers to our questions
may seem obvious to more experienced users. My question is in regard
to changing certain options between AMANDA runs. Specifically,
compression type and dump type. If I start off today with LZOP
compression, and then move to GZIP down the line when I have a faster
machine, will AMANDA cope well with this change, or will I lose the
ability to restore the previous compression type? The same goes for
gnutar vs. star (or any dumptype). While I'm using gnutar now, I can
see moving to star in the future. Can I still restore the stuff I
backed up using gnutar, or will it require manual intervention to do so?
