I am running Amanda 3.1.1 on a Sun Solaris 10 x86 server.
MY QUESTION:
As you can see below when tape D01004 was at 92% and amanda was looking for a
file to finish writing to the remainder of the tape, amanda picked a file that
was 37GB in size which is
much greater than the remaining size on tape which is 8% x 350GB = 28GB, yet
there were plenty of files waiting to be written to tape that were less than
28GB.
Why would amanda pick a 37GB file when there is only ~28GB left on the tape and
when there were plenty of files waiting to go to tape that were less than 28GB?
And of course I get the following from amreport.
FAILURE DUMP SUMMARY:
hertz /gauss/export/users-h lev 0 partial taper: No space left on device
hertz /gauss/export/users-x lev 0 partial taper: No space left on device
The same thing happened when going from tape D01003 to D01004 but I was not
able to get the amreport and amstatus output.
If you look at the amstatus daily --waittaper output below the 37GB file that
was sent to tape was the second largest file waiting.
Thanks
Robert
