Thanks Dustin.  One gets so set that 'its an amanda problem' that I need to 
be slapped, regularly it seems.  I note there is not such a line in the 
example tree of 3.2svn-3343, so perhaps it isn't considered to be an 
airtight requirement for a small network that is all behind a firewall.

Unforch, for pclos, there are no man pages for xinetd.  I'll see if my 
google-fu still works. ;-)
