Hi All,

I installed Amanda 2.6.1p2 into Redhat EL 6 and am evaluating it
for the company for which I am working.

The RPM package I installed is included in a install DVD of Redhat EL 6.

I tried to use chg-disk, but encounterd a problem.

I set tpchanger in newer style, just like this:

tpchanger "chg-disk:/var/amanda/virtual/MgTest01"

I made plural slots in the virtul disk and labeled them and run amdump
twice. Then I loaded the slot used by 1st run and tried to restore
from it by amrestore but it failed, just like this:

# amrestore -p file:/var/amanda/virtual/MgTest01 my_server_name > tmp.tar
amrestore: Error reading volume label: Error checking directory
/var/amanda/virtual/MgTest01/data/: No such file or directory.

This seems the same trouble decribed in the following URL:

http://marc.info/?l=amanda-hackers&m=124590988502332&w=2

I tried the patch for disk.pm which was attached the following
message in this thread, then amrestore works sane.

I also tried setting tpchanger in old style like this:

tpchanger "chg-disk"
tapedev "file:/var/amanda/virtual/MgTest01"

This also makes amrestore work sane.

I am planning to use Amanda 2.6.1p2 several months after.
Which is the best choice for me?

(1) Wait for Amanda 2.6.1p3 which allows me to use chg-disk
    in newer style.

(2) Use chg-disk in old style.

Sincerely.
