Jean-Louis,

>From an earlier note I understood you to say that each
inparallel dump using authbsd would consume 5 sockets.

You had written that with inparallel of 18, I would require 18*5=90
and my port range was only 10084-10100 and was insufficient.

Am I understanding correctly ?

How many sockets are consumed by each udp dump ?

We are looking to maximize inparallel but minimize the number
of open ports through firewalls.

In the case of our largest client we have moved to authbsd
because the number of DLEs exceeded what UDP could handle
but aren't being forced to do that with any of our other clients.

We will do it if its overall benificial.

Because our structure sometimes changes I have been building
all of our clients and servers with TCP and UDP port ranges.
Periodically we add a client that requires us to traverse a FW.

Do port restriction commands function within dumptype stanzas ?
If so we might be able to generally unrestrict the ports and
maintain restrictions only where required.

                                                thank you,

                                                Brian
