But nothing told it to put each DLE on a new tape.  So after completing
the taping of one DLE, maybe there was still 1, 5, 10, or ??? of the
tape unused.  The next DLE didn't fit on the remaining tape.

How many parts failed?

I'm unsure if failed tapings should accumulate in "Parts and DLEs Taped",
but it seems to be the situation in your case.
