amdump fork many processes, which one generated the error? Please post
the 'amdump' or 'amdump.1' log file and the 'log' or 'log.datestamp.0' file
Where do you get the error? stdout? stderr? in the email report?
What is the exact amanda version you are using? Where it come from?
Many commands are easier to debug, if you get the same error with them,
then you should try to debug them first, amadmin, antape, amcheck, ...
