Hi All, I admit that this is a very basic and primitive question. But I am asking it on this forum because I couldn't get any clue about this query even after searching hard on the internet.
I have been using AMANDA 2.6.1 as a backup tool for my RHEL 6 based fileserver at my office. I had referred to the docs available at http://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/Quick_start_%28old%29 . But now this link warns that "This 'Quick Start' is neither quick nor up to date" and points me to the URL http://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/Getting_Started_With_Amanda for the latest docs. I want to use AMANDA 3.x for backups at one of my remote offices. The "Basic Configuration" guide at http://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/Getting_Started_With_Amanda discusses setting up AMANDA 3.x using disk-based virtual tapes and talks nothing about actual physical tapes (like LTO5 tapes). The document also points me to a URL "Putting the data somewhere safer" which doesn't contain any information as of now. Kindly let me know whether I can safely use the quickstart guide http://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/Quick_start_%28old%29 to set up AMANDA 3.x for my new setup ? Would be grateful if I get any pointers/suggestions. Thanks in advance, Yogesh Hasabnis
