I have a home LAN, consisting mostly of a desktop/server computer and a laptop. For some time now, both machines were running CentOS 5, which comes with distro supplied RPMs for Amanda 2.5.0p2 (specificly, 2.5.0p2-9.el52.5.0p2-9.el5). I recently replaced my old laptop with a newer model and installed CentOS 6 on it. CentOS 6 comes with RPMs for Amanda 2.6.1p2. The desktop/server is still running CentOS 5 (with 2.5.0p2) and is the Amanda server for my LAN. I'd like to continue making backups (of the laptop), but I am wondering: are there any issues/problems with using the 2.6.1p2 client with the 2.5.0p2 server? Will this work properly? Are there any special things I need to do or be worried about?
