Humm, setting that option disclosed 2 things, 1 of them a buglet IMO.

1. It now looks for /var/amanda/amandates, and of course doesn't find it,
so I had to become root on all 3 of the other machines, and
ln -s /etc/amandates /var/amanda/amandates, and
2. On one of them I even had to create the /var/amanda directory!

So why should adding an 'estimate calcsize\n' line to my global dumptype
change where it looks for amandates, the one in /etc had been making it
happy for years?

So now amcheck is happy, and a real backup is running.

Damn I'd like to find this, bit me on the 3rd day of uptime & the rest of
this machine is running nominally.
