And the great "Gene's saga" of "timeout on reply pipe" continues, amdump 
did a level 0 on all but 7 dle's out of 52, but even that was less than 
1 vtape used.  And it took 1:04 elapsed time to do it.

One thing I found after I had started the backup, was that the 
"allow from" line in /etc/xinetd.d/amanda, did not contain the new 
machine I'd added to the disklist about the 2 weeks time after this 
excedrin headache started.  It does now.  Is it possible this can cause 
a time delayed failure?  It Boggles my mind to even contemplate that.
