Debian Buster; can't find amanda version, but it's what the Debian
installer installed (and updated, if any); config 'sls' (worked for
years); VS1 DLT

Both amflush and amdump say tape sls-3 doesn't exist -- sometimes, but
they both insist on writing to sls-3. amcheck say sls-3 exists, and will
write to it. Amanda wrote to sls-3 last cycle.

I'm assuming that amcheck just tries a little harder to read a failing
tape. Whatever, I can't figure out how to get a backup.

I tried removing sls-3 from the tapelist, then everybody wanted a new tape.

So, assuming that an empty freshly labeled tape would be considered a
new tape, I relabeled (-f) sls-3 -- worked. Now I'm back to amcheck
being happy and the others saying the tape doesn't exist.

Help?

What I'd like to do is to get sls-3 back. Second choice: forget about
sls-3 (remove it from tapelist and the data files) and write to sls-4.
