I have never ran the distro version on the server, this machine, but I have run the distro clients on the other 4 machines. And you could be right, I think they do run as backup on the others. So I'm checking the passwd files on the others, a mixture of wheezy anf one jessie install on a pi 3b. The first machine alphabeticly GO704 32 bit wheezy, has no amandabackup in its passwd file, next lathe 32 bit wheezy, has an amandabackup user 63988 it its passwd file, next shop 32 bit wheezy, has an amandabackup user 63988 in its passwd file, next picnc armhf jessie has no amandabackup user
Then checking /homes only shop, the newest wheezy install because I put an SSD in it when I moved it to drive a different nachine, has a /home/amanda dir thats empty, all the other have only my home dir in /home, so there's a remarkable lack of consistency. Those that do have an amandabacup user, also have /var/lib/amanda as home dir, and /bin/sh as login All the backups are user 34, with /var/backups as home dirs, and /bin/sh as login And there is NOT a /var/backup directory that actually exists in the list. Now maybe we get to it, I become backup and run the amcheck Daily, and I have no rights to create a log file of any kind in /var/log/amanda AND I, backup, OWN THE WHOLE TREE! Wth? And its all 040700 perms. And I'd better see if I can con my lady into eating something. COPD is starving her to death. [...] Copyright 2019 by Maurice E.
