Greetings all;

Amanda is very nearly hung, I think because of a hardware problem.

This particular mount of my rpi4 of /dev/sda1, a 240GB SSD on a
usb-3<->sata adaptor, mounted as /media/pi/workspace has been going
read-only when the only activity reading it has been amanda doing
backups.

It is not noted by mount as being ro at the moment, but htop says
its /bin/tar status is D which is an uninterruptable disk sleep. And has
been for over 3 hours

dmesg on the pi is being spammed at short intervals by this:
[36695.600650] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] tag#1 uas_eh_abort_handler 0 uas-tag 2
inflight: CMD IN
[36695.600663] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] tag#1 CDB: opcode=0x28 28 00 18 c9 29 e0
00 00 08 00
[36695.640639] scsi host0: uas_eh_device_reset_handler start
[36695.792704] usb 2-2: reset SuperSpeed Gen 1 USB device number 2 using
xhci_hcd
[36695.832619] scsi host0: uas_eh_device_reset_handler success

I have not had any actual problems with the SSD's, but I have had one of
the adaptor cables fail. Does this smell like another adaptor is dying?

If so, its the 5th one. This is beginning to resemble the Prolific story.
In which case I need to figure out where to buy a dependable adapter
cable. Suggestions purchased, as this one is already a replacement of
one no-name by another no-name. In service for about a month and I have
no more spares on site.

Thanks. Expert opinions welcomed.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
