I fixed a lot of problems by adjusting the amsamba file with the new
smbclient version from Debian 11

I'll write a bug report for Debian too but you could try to remove the
'quiet' option from the code if you have the newest smbclient version.
The quiet option doesn't seem to be supported with the newest smbclient
as a tar option.
