Reduce the number of concurrent amavisd-new processes.
With just one process you would have about 20s per message in order to
handle 4000 msgs/day.
If your server is already swapping, per-message timings are probably
already in the twienties...
You might invest a few dozens of Euros in a memory upgrade, though!
