Okay, so your updates are corrupted and unusable. You wouldn't want to 
do anything about that would you?

There was a corrupted update in the past that had to be cleared by hand. 
  I only learned about it because I got the report by mailing the 
results to myself.  It's normally quiet.

Ignore error responses from automated routines is pointless.  Why not 
just disable the mechanism?
