Exactly; 5 seconds is entirely reasonable.  Over a 1 week period, I see that
90% of my SA checks are less than 6.5 seconds, and are typically about 4-5
seconds.

I don't think that's likely.  I think something isn't configured correctly,
and the OPs mistaken.
