Nice to see so many familiar names. Anyone who doesn't know me I'm a
designer for print and exhibition, gradually ressurecting myself as a
digital artist. I teach Digital Design at Queen Margaret University,
and I'm working as Project Artist for the Science Festival's
ThinkTank.

I'm also working with SNH's Young People's Art Project using new
technologies, mini TV transmitters, video microscopes, PDA's etc. on
a wee island called Fidra off North Berwick. Not as glamourous as
Eigg, where Gair is working, but just as salty, wet and camera
corroding, with enough guano to fertilise the Sahara.

My current 'ambit'ion is an invisible geoglyph which can be resolved
using geophysical survey equipment. Fits in with the site/location
topic someway but I'd need to think about that more.

Anyway - a shamelss plug next - so anyone with kids...

I'm running two rocket workshops at the Royal Observatory on
Blackford Hill, Edinburgh next week as part of Spaced Out, a festival
celebrating Edinburgh's designation as Europes first Space City by
ESA. The publicity only appeared in the racks on Tuesday so I'm doing
an extra bit of plugging round the mailing lists. Dates are;

Tuesday 16th at 1pm - 5pm & Friday 19th at 1pm - 5pm
Price: 5.00 per rocket Age: 8+
To book call the ROE: 0131 668 8404/8405

Rockets take a couple of hours to make (bring a piece), so you must
be there from the start to build a rocket in time. Launch time is
dependent on numbers, but usually takes place at 4.00pm. They're a
metre long, made from paper and card, travel 150ft into the sky and
are recovered by parachute. It's great fun.

Will bring along a rocket fitted with a TV camera and digital
transmitter so we can video the hill from the air, so drop in towards
the end if you just want a shuftie. Bring a battery for a BVU-150P
and we can record it on some obsolete format.

* Anyhoo. If anyone needs any help, advice, helium etc. please feel
free to email me.

Thanks

Cavan Convery
