Also, it's not online but in reference to Zoe's question about audio
archives as medium I'm reminded of Philip Jeck's "Vinyl Requiem" -
performance for 180 dansette record players, was on at the Tramway a while
back. 

There was a piece Ken Goldberg did a while back (although documentation
is no longer online), consisted of a black box sitting in the corner of an
empty gallery.  The box was connected online, and was basically a
"sleeping" computer.  When somebody accessed its URL, it woke up and
briefly activated its cooller fan creating a gentle breathing sound in the
gallery and then went back to sleep.
