B(if)tek 2002 WINK Awards Hey everyone
The WINK Awards (Wired Innovative Naughty Kids) are happening all over again this year, bigger, sillier, angrier, happier than ever! Same categories as last year (see below). This year, the event is part of the general mayhem that is the Next Wave festival (www.nextwave.org.au), Melbourne's premier electronic arts showcase. I'm sending you this in the hope that you will pass this on through your e-mailing lists and publications so we can start getting people interested in entering themselves or their friends into the awards. If you go to www.biftek.com, you can see last year's awards plus a spiffing webcast courtesy of Cinemedia. The website is in the process of being updated, we hope to have a page up for the 2002 awards real soon - watch this space. Just to remind you, the award categories are as follows: 1.� Subvert the dominant paradigm award.� This is the big banana - $2000 to the best use of electronic media to subvert mainstream cultural norms and aesthetics.� Covers web, video, music, multimedia art and practices. 2. Best unsigned electronic music act. 3. Best bit of electronic art by a gal. 4. Best home-made modification (software or hardware) for making wikked sounds. 5. Best video made for under $5000. Where?
