I don't think the question should be whether or not there should be a Scottisch (Media) Arts Festival , as there should be one for sure, but how it could find shape which on an international scale has it's own identity. Most big arts festivals have their own, quite focussed and thematic direction which is is for example what makes Ars Electronica so successfull. Though I have found Ars Electronica more interesting from a science point of view rather than an arts point of view. The science and art combination as well as the art and medicine one have been very interesting and difficult ones to do 'right', so there's still plenty of ground here to be discovered, researched, discussed, etc. - maybe in another festival, and why not based in Scoland?
And funding is never 'already there', but has to be found, again on an international level. Although I do know this is not an easy task, but if there's a vision, there's always a way.
