The Institute of Media Research (IMF) at the Braunschweig School of Art, Germany announces the opening of the position of
"Junior-Professor" (non-tenured assistant/associate professor) in Research of Media Effects/Media Cultures. to be filled by October 1st, 2002. The position is funded by The Foundation NordLB/�ffentliche for the initial three years. The Braunschweig School of Art provides the renewal of the position for another three years. The teaching load is 2 courses per term. The qualification for junior professor requires outstanding expertise of teaching and research in Media Studies, particularly in view of overriding media und cultural analysis and with regard to media literacy, cross-relations of media production, representation and publicity. We expect innovative approaches towards the effects of differing media and the relevance of Cultural Studies to Media Studies. The junior professor should contribute to the development of concepts that are specific to media in order to analyse the effects of media based on conceptions in information and educational processes. The applicant must have profound knowledge of internationational debates in media studies/media effects and cultural studies and must have his/her own research perspective with regard to ongoing cultural changes (digitisation, globalisation). Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in hands and must have completed the publication of dissertation.
