USeful contacts for anyone interested, partic the Macphersons:
faozi ujam, a lecturer at e.c.a,in the architecture department, has run a series of projects developing urban design methods of investigation into rural places, particularly Killin which I think is quite near Newtonmore..he is very very interesting man, who would be delighted to offer information to anyone in the arts sector (as far as I know him, obviously! can't gaurantee his response)contact him through e.ca.'s website, architecture staff, where there is also a c.v., list of research papers. The E>C>A> urban design department has a lot of really interesting research in the form of phd's etc on this subject and related ones. Another good contact is Les Forsyth, head of urban design, contact at the same place. Space/Place mapping is, as I interpret their interests, very central to both their work, although Faozi takes a more intuitive approach, and Les a more hard-headed scientific approach. I'm still living in France, or would arrange to discuss this with both of them, but if anyone thinks they could do with a collaborative partner in the field (ie phd student? Faozi in particular wanted me to do a phd working with an artist in the days when I was a lowly architecture student...), or wants pointed in the right direction, I am sure these two could help. If you wish to quote me, they probably remember me as Fiona Dickson, rather than Fee. Hope this is of interest Catriona, Katrina and Simon... P.s. Catriona - you said you were based at Dundee University? A friend of mine, Chris Lowry, is an architecture tutor there - he would probably be very interested in what you are doing.. ------------------------------------------------- a m b i t : networking media arts in scotland post: [EMAIL PROTECTED] info: send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and write "info ambit" in the message body -------------------------------------------------
