Dear All

I'm pleased to announce that those of you who missed the Cinema for the Deaf
event in June have another opportuntiy for a taster - well, a small but
pungent snack, at least.

The Filmhouse are currently running a PUNK season. This Sunday 6th and
Monday 7th October they will screen Julien Temple's masterful and stirring
THE FILTH & THE FURY. To accompany this, they will be screening a unique
version of the Pistol's anthem GOD SAVE THE QUEEN which myself and Deaf film
maker Sam Dore reworked in British Sign Language - specially for the Golden
Jubilee! How nice.

I am also glad to make you aware of the fact that Sunday 6th is the start of
Sign Language Awareness Week (previously known as Deaf Awareness Week). G

Go along, be aware, learn a little - the limits of your language are, after
all, the limits of your world.

Julien Temple
Documentary

Julien Temples alternative documenting of the Sex Pistol years, after the
admittedly (by the director himself) Malcolm McLaren biased version of
events, The Great Rock and Roll Swindle. Temple was there at the outset and
stayed to document proceedings, intercutting contemporary interviews with
footage shot at the time, and managing to give the film the authentic feel
of 70s Britain. Lydons wit still shines and works well as an antidote to
the McLaren version of events, and the recollections of the other surviving
band members are frank, funny, compassionate and damning.
