Hi List,
As far as I remember the ex-CCA (Third Eye Center) was an artist-run Art
Center which had to close down due to financial problems. It reopend as the
CCA. It was now a government -run space and therefore had different
political and economical agendas. The involvment with the Ministry of
Defence seem to be only a logical progression from that change.
Additionally the current managment seem to be not particularly interested in
contemporary Art. A change in Directorship might improve the situation, but
at the end of the day it is still is a government -run institution. An
alternative might be, what the majority of artists are already doing , to
ignore the CCA as they ignore the Gallery of Modern Art (Glasgow) and create
better alternatives. (..and there are plenty! cheaper and tastier
cappochinos, too).
See you there.
Torsten
