This years line-up includes
Ryoji Ikeda: formula [ver 1.0]. First UK gig for 3 years: a breathtaking
interplay between punk sinewave aggression, high-speed video sequences
and stroboscopic lighting.
alva.noto. Carsten Nicolai's patented 60 cycle hums, static pops, and
terse electron pinpircks that mutate into perfect, post-techno grooves
and synaesthesic video
Stephan Mathieu: a rare chance to hear Mathieus ethereal and sublime,
glistening and emotive synthetic swells of expanded digital minutea.
John Wall: sound diffusion piece featuring new work from the heroically
meticulous uk composer
Hanayo & Ilpo Vaisainen: one off collaboration featuring the barely
there, child like voice of Japanese avant-chanteuse Hanayo and the quite
moving wistful electro-acoustic collages of Vaisainen [one half of
analogue phase shifting techno pioneers pan sonic]
Francisco Lopez: both ominous and serene, lopezs live show features his
trademark silence, open ended droning mysteries and a blindfolded
audience
Phill Niblock: two pieces of ultra-subtle harmonics and mulit-tracked,
otherworldly drones from US minimalist and intermedia artist.
Mirror: first UK gig for some time for the breathtaking collaboration
between Andrew Chalk and Christoph Heemann. Glassine drones, mercurial
tonalities and delicate interplay meld into pieces of evocative ambience
Koji Asano & The Paragon Ensemble: Specially commisioned new work for
percussion, cello, contra basoon and cherbulum from the uber-prolific
and eclectic experimentalist, performed by Scotlands leading avant
classical ensemble
cyclo. sonographics: UK premiere of Nicolai and Ikeda's collaborative
project: a live installation of clipped and strangely skewed algorithmic
modulations.
