Hi

I have recently subscribed to ambit to keep up to date with what is
happening with New Media in Scotland and wanted to introduce myself.

I am Director of Folly in Lancaster and an artist living in Cumbria.

I look forward to participating in dialogue with you in the future.

Below are some opportunities which may be relevant to ambit readers.

I apologise if these have been duplicated elsewhere.

Regards

Taylor Nuttall

1) >>> Arts and Mental Health / Folly Commission

Folly is in the process of developing a community focussed project in
collaboration with an informal drop-in day centre for people with mental
health problems in Lancaster. This project will involve participants from
the drop-in centre and lead to work that is documented on line via the Folly
website www.folly.co.uk.

An artist will be commissioned to develop their own work as a response to
issues arising from or experiences of mental health. Alongside this
commissioned activity users of the drop-in centre will engage with creative
workshops developed in consultation with centre staff and Folly.

Whilst the quality of artistic practice and awareness of Internet based
creative production will be important, good interpersonal skills and being
receptive to the overall aims of the project will be essential requirements
for this opportunity. Good photographic skills and knowledge are also
desirable for this project.

Activity will take place in spring / early summer 2003. Initially 2000 is
available to support the commission and funding is being sought for the
broader project development. It is envisaged that the artist appointed will
help form the detail of the participative project activity in consultation
with the drop- in centre and Folly depending on his / her own skills and
interests.

3) >>> New Media Network

Folly has been commissioned by North West Arts to undertake an audit of
current media provision in Cumbria and to investigate the potential of
setting up a New Media / Artists Film and Video network.

Folly wishes to establish regional contacts with arts venues and media based
artists with a view to initiating dialogue through - mail list / web portal
