Dear Friends,

Please forgive the imposition but some of the list members in the Grampian
region may find this of interest as such equipment is only available to hire
at a few locations in Scotland.

>> Peacock Visual Arts Launches Digital Video Equipment for Hire <<

Aberdeen based Peacock visual arts is now hiring out broadcast quality
digital video equipment to the general public at competitive rates.

The equipment will allow Peacock visual arts to support and nurture emergent
filmmaking talent, provide training and advice for educators and community
workers, and allow local filmmakers to hire professional video equipment at
affordable rates.

The new equipment will also allow Peacock visual arts to build upon its
award winning educational programme with activities planned throughout the
year to encourage young people to experiment and to explore different
narrative techniques in film.

The first pieces of equipment purchased using the award are now available
for hire at very competitive rates and include the Canon XL1s and Sony PD150
video cameras, both of which are widely used by digital filmmakers.

Further purchases will be added to this list between now and summer and will
include a range of Sennheiser microphones (including 4 wireless kits),
lighting and Tripods.

Peacock visual arts started life as a printmaking workshop and in recent
years has successfully opened a photography and digital department.
2004 will mark their 30th birthday.

The acquisition of this equipment costing a total of 21,000 has been made
possible due to a successful application to the Scottish Arts Councils
National Lottery Equipment Fund supported by additional funds from Aberdeen
City Council.

In addition, Peacock visual arts can now document some of the many
internationally renowned artists that work and exhibit in their Aberdeen
workshop and gallery space these have included Toby Paterson, John McLean,
Francis Walker, Ralph Steadman, Philip Reeves, and Ian McKenzie Smith.

Peacock visual arts is a registered educational charity in Aberdeen and has
the widest range of visual arts production facilities openly available in
Scotland.
