Annual Conference Dundee Contemporary Arts 21st June 2003

SAU is holding its annual Conference at DCA on Saturday the 21st of June,
between 1 and 5 p.m. The conference will cover some SAU business as well as a
host of other topics, and looks set to being an essential day for the visual
arts. Speakers will include Gillian Nicol, Editor Artists Newsletter, Wendy Law
-Scottish Arts Council, Francis McKee- Curator, Lisa Stewart -Artist and Curator
and Katrina Brown of VAGA, as well as some guest speakers yet to be confirmed.

As well as the chance for everyone to have their say and further the agenda,
we'll also be getting first hand footage from the Venice Biannale and
Scotland's first ever Pavilion, and the first ever screening of the new SAU website.

The first leg of our extensive 2003 Roadshow is now complete, having taken us
to seven venues across Scotland in four months. Certification is almost
complete, bringing Trades Union status and greater support ever closer. As always,
we continue to develop the membership, which is now well over two hundred,
covering artists of all disciplines, and at every stage of their careers.

SAU continues to push forward for a better deal for artists, lobbying the
Arts Council and the Scottish Executive for increases in funding, and gaining
further endorsement for our Rates of Pay document.

The day is free to all, and teas and coffees etc. will be provided.
