Best regards Tim - - - - - - Lab Nights >From October 2003 the CCA, Glasgow will be hosting Lab Nights every third Wednesday of the month. Lab Nights give artists from any performance discipline 10 or 15 minutes to try out new ideas or methods in front of an audience. We want to give artists the chance to test something that is mid-process or even just a seed idea. The work might be a bit raw or a bit risky but that doesnt matter in fact thats the point! Artists might want to get some feedback in the bar afterwards, or give some to other participants. But in order to make this work we will ask critics not to review Lab Nights nor should they be used by funders to formally assess work. We hope Lab Nights will be used to, perhaps, shoot from the hip with an idea just do it and see what happens or try out some new technology - or show some work mid-process - or try the first stages of a script - or find out whether you really can do THAT in front of an audience and get away with it. Who can be in a Lab Night? The CCA welcomes any artist or company from theatre, dance, music, live art, spoken word, screen or anything in-between for Lab Nights. It may be work that would not normally be programmed at the CCA doesnt matter. We hope they will be of use to established artists trying out new work or emerging artists trying out first ideas. Lab Nights will be in CCA5 and will have a basic technical spec to be shared by all. We anticipate having 5 or 6 slots each Lab Night of 10 to 15 minutes each. If you have something you would like to show please email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or leave a message at 0141 332 7521. More information about the CCA: Creative Lab can be found at: www.cca-glasgow.com Who can come to a Lab Night? Lab Nights will be open to a public audience for 2.00 a head. They will be publicised in the CCA general marketing brochures, web site, etc. Tim Nunn August 2003 -- Tim Nunn Associate Curator (Performance) CCA (Centre or Contemporary Arts) 350 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow G2 3JD M: 07778 901198 T: 0141 332 7521 F: 0141 332 3226 ------------------------------------------------- a m b i t : networking media arts in scotland post: [EMAIL PROTECTED] archive: http://www.mediascot.org/ambit info: send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and write "info ambit" in the message body -------------------------------------------------
