Apologies for cross postings....
Artquest / Space Triangle Streaming Video Workshop
Artquest, in association with Space Triangle, are pleased to announce
Streaming Video, a forthcoming web - streaming workshop for artists.
Streaming Video aims to give artists an understanding of the
considerations involved with streaming both live and archive video. The
workshop will focus on the fundamental principles of video compression,
including:
- Understanding different bandwidths and servers
- Using a variety of Media Players (Quicktime / Windows Media etc)
- Frame size and data rates
- All in a friendly artist - led environment
Artists will have the opportunity to stream their own video projects
during the workshop, giving them practical, hands-on experience.
Easy-to-understand written notes and supporting material will be
provided each week, offering handy hints on using web-streaming
technology.
The 3-day workshop will take place at Space Triangle over a three - week
period:
- Wednesday 25th February
- Thursday 26th February
- Thursday 11th March
Participants MUST be available for all dates.
There are 12 places available on this workshop. We are able to offer
Streaming Video at a heavily subsidised fee of 50 per artist (compared
to the usual market rate of 500 +). This is being provided in order to
offer visual artists the opportunity to advance their professional
skills.
In order to apply, artists will be required to complete an application
form and send a current CV and a cheque / postal order for 50 addressed
to London Institute HEC. Applications without cheques will NOT be
accepted. Applicants must be able to demonstrate their level of
experience in using video technology and have a project they wish to
stream. Streaming Video is not suitable for artists who have no
experience using video or digital technology.
