The Filmic Navigation of Space.

STALKER by Andrey Tarkovsky. 1979
The creation, and transformation of space can be said to be architectural in many regards. The first example, Stalker, shows us the way in which a film can create a space which has it's own internal logic, but a logic which is not that of our own world. The destination at the cantre of Tarkovsky's Zone is clear and in view; but the direct route is dangerous, and only the Stalker knows the way.
