All ambiteers are invited to the launch of Beverley Hood's project
'Doppelganger' at Street Level Photoworks, 26 King Street, Glasgow

@ 7pm on Saturday 27th March 2004

Exhibition runs from 30th March to 8th May 2004

You are also being asked to attend a talk by the artist on Saturday 17th
April 2004 at 3pm.

Information:
This first major one-person show in Scotland by the Edinburgh-based artist
builds upon the tradition of portraiture, and in particular the
representation of artists, within the context of 21st Century technology and
techniques.

The show consists of two related bodies of work, developed around a series
of portraits created using 3D character modelling software. Gallery 2
features two sets of larger-than-life digital prints, 'Self-portrait
(Version 1 - 3)' a series of three prints that make up a progressive
self-portrait and 'Doppelganger' a series of seven portraits of the artistıs
colleagues made during a six month residency in Basel, Switzerland, during
2002. The body of work 'Doppelganger' continues in Gallery 1, which contains
an interactive computer based work and a series of small digital prints
addressing the portraiture environment. The web based version of the former
will appear on HOST, New Media Scotland's virtual gallery space -
www.mediascot.org/host

The artist will give a talk on Saturday 17th April @ 3pm and will undertake
a 3D character modelling workshop on Sunday 18th April, both as part of Real
Art Weekend.

A minigraph with a commissioned essay by Francis McKee is available.

If you cant make the opening (free drink!), schedule in the talk and at the
very least, see the show.
