Established in 1988, the European Media Arts Festival (emaf) in Osnabrück
has become one of the most important media art festivals in Europe. With a
fixed date in April, it combines screenings, exhibitions, a congress and a
student forum to give artists, theorists, and the general audience the
opportunity to watch, discuss and engage with films, videos, performances,
multi media installations and digital media from all over the world.
Retrospectives presenting the oeuvre of such artists as Michael Snow, Al
Razutis, Len Lye, or Peter Greenaway have regularly added a historic
perspective to the festival, while an international touring package has made
a selection of each year's festival available to wider audiences. We have
invited emaf's artistic director Ralf Sausmikat to present the festival and
to introduce the two 2003/2004 touring programmes, which sample highlights
and important works from last year's festival.

For more information on the festival see go to www.emaf.de.
For detailed programme see below.
