Application Form available to down load at http://www.variant.org.uk/Doc2.html Festival Information Further to the huge success of Document 1 in September 2003, we are currently in the process of producing Document 2. The festival will run from 17th-20th September 2004. The venue remains the same as last year, but with additional screening facilities. We are now inviting submissions for this year�s festival. The closing date for all submissions to Document 2 will be 2nd July 2004. Programme We aim to screen a large and diverse selection of documentary film which will offer the viewer a broader understanding of issues not often spoken about, ignored, or not registered on any platform, which are concerned with human rights issues. The festival will screen work from home and abroad - work that due to particular social, cultural and political contexts, the makers would have difficulty in screening in the place of origin. There will be a series of events, discussions and debates with film makers, journalists/ correspondents and people who have experienced conflict and abuses of their human rights in their own or another country. These issues will include: Miscarriages of Justice Asylum Eviction Poverty Mental health Social exclusion Targets in war and conflict Africa Palestine/Israel Central/Eastern European work from the E.U. accession countries.(including Baltic states). Roma, Gypsies and Travellers Immigration and Asylum at home and abroad. Kurdish issues past and present. Central Asian former Soviet republics. Mental Health and Social Care HIV/Aids Young people Women Human Trafficking Document 2 will be happy to view any other films which do not fall into these specific categories but are relevant within a broad understanding of Human Rights Issues.
