C'est la vie.

Well I got amforth building ok on a ubuntu 14.04 vm and also under cygwin.
Cygwin lacks an easy path forward for avrdude but everything else worked
fine. Anyone else tried cygwin?

I didn't try installing wine in cygwin :-). I did use the avrasm2.exe
distro from sourceforge which was handy and I programed using avrstudio
6.1.

I think the applications makefiles for butterfly and arduino uno are a bit
out of date, at least the 5.5 release I was working on had me making
changes, more than just turning off wine. If I find another block of time
should I work from trunk and post diffs or just send Matthius files? I'm
not much of a programmer so I want to go back and double check this
comment.

Sadly I don't know if the shells work as I am on the road and thought I
could power my butterfly from USB but it is not quite enough voltage to
provide a full 3.3 v over the LM7833 so the serial ports is a little
flaky. I spent a lot of time looking at baud rates and fuses when what I
really had was a noisy serial line. AVR studio reports only 2.6v on the
device which doesn't seem to be enough for 8mhz nor decent serial line
behaviour.
