I am a very loyal AmiBroker user but I think the data feed issue is a real weak point and one that should be addressed in the future.
Mostly for pricing, I struggled many months w/ IQFEED, in my case intraday. When backfilling data it is at least 2 or 3 times slower then esignal for any backfill length. At times the system freezes up when you are trying to use real time mode to backfill when it hits certain signals. Worst, I wrote a system and have caused AmiBroker to crash regularly with the IQFeed that does not crash with the esignal feed. My main reason for trying to get IQFEED to work w/ AmiBroker was price. Unfortunately, right now if you want reliable backfeed data you are more or less a prison to Esignal and I don't like having only one choice - and a choice that is expensive in comparison. I also tried to test qcharts recently since their claim is "unlimited" stocks but I was told by support that the feed isn't as dependable and backfill didn't work in the AA window. My hope is that as AmiBroker continues to mature we are given at least 1 or 2 valid alternatives to Esignal that really work well. Until then I am Esignal "prisoner"... I will also add that even though you can only have 200 signals at "one time" that only hurts in realtime window. If you run a scan that cycles through 1000 stocks you will get a message popping up on your screen from esignal that you have exceeded your count - but it doesn't stop the data flow. Their policy is 200 symbols at a time but unlimited; so you just have to move the window w/ the message out of the way. If you need to really monitor more stocks you just have to pay more. I'm sure there are some users w/ IQFeed success but I am pretty technical and have tried everything even w/ their latest client and I've given up for now.
