Kyle,
AmiBroker uses a plugin to access the Quotes Plus data. When you create a new database, one of the things you will configure is the Data Source. For a QP database you would set this to Quote Plus data plug-in. This will then bring in all the QP data including their sector/industry clasifications. You will then have a list of folders in your symbol view that corespond with each of the Industry Groups and the stocks within them. As far as your question "What is the trick?" There is no trick "easy" way to determine how to make money in the Stock Market. You have to study, observe, test and then repeat the cycle all over. If I gave you a system, it would be my system, geared to my habits, and in all likelyhood would not work for you. (Unless you happen to be my clone:>) ) I strongly sugest you read the AmiBroker manual, and several good books about investing and technical analysis. I have included my personel favorite below.
Book List:
William O'Neil - How to Make Money in Stocks
Louis B Mendelson -Trend Forcasting wit Technical Analysis
John Murphy - Charting Made Easy
Michael Thomsett - Support & Resistance Simplified
Ed Downs - 7 Chart Patterns that Consistently Make Money.

Subject: [amibroker] Newbie Question - How do you download the 200 industry groups from QP into AB?
I would like to download it in a way that it automatically organizes
the data into their respective sectors and industries, and I would
like to be able to chart these sectors and industries as a whole. I
would also like to chart the ind'l stocks within the sectors and
industries. What is the trick? Please be specific as I'm still
learning AFL and the other features of AB.
Thank you,
Kyle
