Ken,

Depending on where your computer thought you were in the directory structure when you “save as”, you may be saving your indicators in random folders on your hard drive.  Just make sure that you check the folder you are saving to when you “save as”  Depending on what you do backups for, I’d presume that a handy place would be the custom folder within the AmiBroker structure so you can use the chart tab to get them again – or if you save your “my documents” folder more frequently, you could set up a folder there and be sure that’s where you save your new indicators.

I’ve had similar problems myself when I wasn’t paying attention to where I put the saved files.

I don’t know if this is what’s happening, but could be.

Mike

Subject: [amibroker] Basic Refresh on Inserting Formulas

Sadly, I need to ask for a refresher explanation which the help files do not clear up.

I always have created new indicators by opening a blank window, coding the indicator, Save As...a name, then click Apply.  The indicator pane pops open and I have remembered that was all that was needed.

I have had a "rash" of incidents where I return to a layout and find multiple "Error: Formula file not found or empty" messages, in panes I set up just 10 minutes ago.

Would someone remind me why my method described above it leading to these not found messages.

I have experimented with Insert and Insert Linked and studied the help files on these.

What is the most "reliable" method for the panes to remember where the code is?

Again, just a gentle reminder.

Thanks,

Ken
