My system is as follows: ANTEC Performance One P182 ATX Case Vista Business 32bit Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz 8MB Asus P5E X38/ICH9R Motherboard OCZ2P8004GK OCZ 4GB PC2-6400 Platinum Kit Western Digital 500GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB Hard Drive x 2 eVGA e-GeForce 8600GT SSC 256MB Video Card (runs two monitors) Zalman CNPS9700NT Cooler Samsung SH-S203B 20x DVDRW SATA PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750W Quad Power Supply SmartLink 56K V.92/V.90 PCI Modem (backup Internet in case cable goes down) I used Vista 32 bit because I don't know enough about the 64 bit. I picked the parts and a local shop assembled the system. The ANTEC case is very quiet even with three stock fans and the big Zalman CPU fan (the Zalman must be turned to auto in the BIOS or it runs fast and is loud) and the WD hard drives are very quiet - I can't say I even hear them working (quiet is important to me).
