In my earlier post, which you may have missed, I stated that *.doc is
generally used by Word, but can be used by Wordperfect, Lotus Wordpro, or
any other word processor, and the file can be in that program's native
file format, or any format that program supports.  To know if a file is
really in a Word format, which is the format at risk, one needs to
actually receive and examine the file.
