IMHO colours are accepatble in moderation - unless the particular channel
has a rule saying otherwise.

Can you imagine if everyone forced colour codes on their text? You'd have
one guy with pink text on a yellow background, another with green on black..

If you want your text to appear a different colour than everyone elses' on
your own window, might i suggest a feature to automatically prefix your own
text with a colour code/bold/underline within your client, and send out just
the typed text. -eg-

I type "Hi there everyone"
I see "<MadSci> [colour code]Hi there everyone"
Everyone else sees "<MadSci> Hi there everyone"

That way, if you really must have those "pretty" colours in your text, you
don't inflict it upon others.
You could also specify a bold/underline/inverse rather than a colour, maybe
even bold *and* colour! ;)

As was said earlier in the thread, using colour codes all the time is annoying,
especially if someone is using a client that doesn't support colour codes
(on a shell account perhaps). - You might think it looks pretty but many
people don't like reading multicoloured text.

Regards
