Disagree. I run AmIRC on an 8 color screen, with the typical
MUI/MagicWB grayshades palette. Obviously then, it can't produce all
the blues, yellows, reds and greens as requested, and instead it
produces close approximation colors. Now, if someone, for example,
puts green text on blue background, that would show up for me as light
gray-blue on light gray-blue background. Which means I can't read it.
Even when I run on a 32 color screen, to allow properly for the
colors, I still often get stuff like blue text on black background
which I can't read, or green on white background which is way too
bright and I have to squint to read it. Or, as another poster pointed
out, black text which is invisible against the black background I use.
Chat's meant to be easy and enjoyable, not something you have to work
at to be able to read it.
