To Be Honest, Xchat under linux is an acceptable substitute. AmIRC will always be my IRC client of choice, but not always everyone else's. I paid for an AmIRC 3.0 license, and I wish it would work with a linux equivalent of the IRC client. If AmIRC is not longer comercially viable, why not open source it, and it could maybe even be ported to windows...
