For Sale: Heathkit Mohawk RX-1 Receiver This dual conversion HF receiver covers 160-10 (plus a converter input).
I bought this off of eBay and restored it. Completely dissassembled and cleaned the dial mechanism and chassis. Some stubborn dirt, slight corrosion remains on chassis. Front panel was stained with paint, but this has been cleaned up very well. Some slight stains remain. Brushed aluminum knobs are all there and in good shape. Megacycle dial drum is in excellent shape with very slight cracking in the ends; no pieces missing. I did a complete alignment, including the factory wired and tested front end, using the factory procedure from BAMA. Because this receiver was so poor as designed by Heathkit, I have added Tom Bonomo K6AD's ER mods to make it a reasonable performer on AM. Sideband performance was improved too, though honestly it's still not wonderful on SSB. Mods include improved AVC performance, wider bandwidth audio, modification of detector/noise limiter stages. All mods are simple wiring/component changes that could be reversed, although I can't believe anyone would want to! This is a very nice looking (no, not mint) Heathkit green wonder receiver.
