Hi All:
I have a need to gang two large porcelain rotary switches
together but they need to be insulated for high voltage RF. I found the
two rotary switches with no mounts or shafts they use 1/4 inch square
shafts. I purchased a 1/4 square steel rod from the local hardware but
it needs to be divided in the middle by some type of insulator. I guess
I could turn the shafts down to round so they would fit in something
like a porcelain flex coupler but I thought I would get some ideas from
the folks here first. The flex couplers, unless very large, seem to
have a lot of back lash due to bending in the middle. I suppose one
could use two and put a carrier barring in the middle. But I was hoping
to find some sort of solid coupling device with good insulating quality.
By the way were does one find the stuff that is used in the middle of a
lot of bug catcher antennas (I think it is called phenolic) I can turn
the square shafts down to make them round where they needs to go into
each end of a coupler. But I don't know where to get a non flex
coupler. Any help would be appreciated.
