Hi John and all. I dont see how a 1/4 inch square shaft can be could be turned down to any thing round that would have enough size. I would be thinking of some 1/2 inch stock with the ends milled square at the 1/4 inch size then a teflon solid coupler with two or more setscrews. Sorta hard to visualize, there are plenty of 3/8 flex insulated couplers that are pretty strong, if you had one of them you could use a 3/8 rod with the ends filed flat to go in the switches..Happy Memorial day weekend.. 73, Mike K4XM
